Hi All--I am happy to have found this site! I am a long time whaler guy (88 Outrage 20), but was looking for a smaller bay boat. I couldn't find a reasonable priced whaler so I was happy to "settle" for a 16.2 wahoo. They get great reviews! My first question is--Is there any place to find a bow rail? Or any side rails? Also, I am not looking to break any speed records, I just need to put around. What would a 25hp be like on this boat??
I will stop there but definitely I will have more questions as I get up and running with this thing.
BTW I am in MA, north of Boston.

I have the same boat with a 90hp Evinrude Etec. I sometimes would like it to have a 60hp, but it isn't any less weight. I really don't think a 25hp would be enough. I had a 13 ft Whaler with a 40hp and that was a pretty good match, so I personally wouldn't go less than that on the Wahoo. With a few people along, it might be hard to get on plane with the 25.

Congrats on the boat find. Mine has side rails, but no bow rail. I like it that way. It makes it easier to get in and out on the front.

Ok--So, I have washed and waxed the boat and identified some repair areas. There seem to be a lot "wholes" in this thing...some damage, but some appear to be planned. Not sure why some any round holes ranging from 1 inch to 4 inches in the interior walls. The 4 inch ones I plan to cover with hatches from West marine. The smaller ones I am improvising and cutting round pieces of starboard and using adhesive to cover. Last night I used some MarineTex on a couple spots on the hull. I am afraid it wasn't thick enough! i applied it anyway and will have to check it this afternoon. I also need to hit the registry and get it registered so it can get in the water soon! The questions I have now are related to gas tank? I am skeptical of the tank and system and considering just using a 6 gallon tank and hose, that way I know it is clean. Also, wondering about separator and mounting? And then I have some electrical questions? I will get some pics up soon! It is definitely a work in progress...

I don't know about the 4" holes unless someone just removed the inspection covers. Easy to replace. The 1" holes at the bottom of the gunwale are where the boat was foamed at the factory. If your fuel tank is working, you need to use it. 6 gal tanks in the back of that boat take up a lot of room. I placed a filter/water separator in the splash well on the port side just below the motor. I have seen a few of these boats with external fuel tanks but only because the filter in the tank was clogged.

Thanks BayPawn!
Shouldn't those 1" holes be covered with something? I was thinking of siliconing some type of cap on them? Just seems odd to leave it open and exposed.
New question---Like I said I am used to a whaler which is solid because its foam filled. So, I notice a little give in the forward deck when I step there. I am not sure if it is because it is on the trailer and not floating? I do way 230, and based on the diagram from the old brochure it is hollow, so it just maybe that. There is not sign of wear or damage. Any thoughts?
I really like this boat, so I just want to make sure I am not blind to a problem in the making.

If anyone has a 16.2 and is north of Boston or on the Cape, I would love to see another one up-close. This is the only wahoo I have ever seen.
